Exactly. Companies unfortunately tend to promote based on years rather than level. I remember the case where I met a developer who really invested in his own learning, even though he had 1 year of experience he was abl to come up with better solutions than some of the senior developers who had 5+ years experience.
Years of experience don't automatically make you a better engineer.
Exactly. If we don't learn anything new, but just repeat the same mistakes, we're stuck at the same level.
As I like to say it, there is a difference between someone with 20 years of experience and someone with one year of experience repeated 20 times.
