Based on conversations I’ve had during the past months and during my previous years working as a Technical Coach introducing TDD in teams across the world, I’ve decided to give away everything I’ve learnt so that you can apply it too.
Thanks Jelena! My goal is to make TDD a mainstream practice, so I really want to help senior software engineers & tech leads to spread TDD within their companies.
You're welcome, Vinny! That's the main goal behind the sandbox - a safe place to learn. Just like learning to fly using a Flight Simulator, or learning to drive in parking lot before going on the road.
Working as a Technical Coach, I saw challenges faced by teams when just jumping onto Real Life code, because teams may feel like progress is too slow, also sometimes they introduced bugs by accident (and then had feelings of blame/failure), and it caused motivation issues.
That's why, when I shifted onto the Sandbox-like approach, it took teams less time to get something working, and even more importantly that they could see the end result, before deciding that's the direction they want to move in the Real Life Project.
The safety in the mind turned out to be a very important ingredient in supporting learning, because learning is too hard when we're under stress or under pressure of making mistakes.
Looking forward to the TDD Transformation in 2025! 🙂

Great roadmap proposal, Valentina! I love it! Let’s become the sandbox mindset the safe place to improve together with confidence day by day

I like the roadmap! I do want to coach my team into TDD, and this will help, thanks!
Thanks Alexandre! Yes, that's the goal - to both learn TDD ourselves and to coach our teams into TDD. Looking forward to your project!
Great roadmap can’t wait for 2025 !
Thanks Romain, yes looking forward to it!
